Fire-Resistive Coatings for Structural Steel

Intumescent coating is a fire-resistive paint applied to structural steel, beams, columns and trusses. In a fire, the coating expands into a thick, insulating char that slows the steel from heating up, giving occupants more time to get out and helping the structure keep its strength. Review of the project's fire rating and coating specification
Surface preparation by sandblasting or media blasting to remove rust, mill scale and old coatings
Compatible primer applied to manufacturer requirements
Intumescent coating sprayed or rolled to the required thickness, checked with film-thickness readings
Optional top coat for color, durability and moisture protection
